119 Extraordinary Ministers Participate in Eucharistic Formation Programme
Mangaluru, June 14, 2026: Mangala Jyothi – Commission for Liturgy organized a Formation Programme for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) at Shanthi Kiran Hall, Bajjodi. The programme witnessed the participation of 114 Extraordinary Ministers from various parishes of the Diocese of Mangalore.
The programme began with prayer and an introduction, setting the tone for a day of spiritual and liturgical formation. Fr. Rohith D’Costa conducted the first session on the History, Spirituality, and Guidelines of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, highlighting the sacred nature of the ministry and the importance of reverence, devotion, and faithful adherence to the Church’s liturgical norms.
The participants then joined in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, drawing spiritual nourishment from the source and summit of Christian life.
The second session was led by Fr. Dr. Ronald Serrao, who presented the Theology of the Eucharist and Liturgy. He deepened the participants’ understanding of the Eucharistic mystery, emphasizing the real presence of Christ and the vital role of Extraordinary Ministers in serving the faithful, especially the sick and homebound.
The programme provided an opportunity for participants to renew their commitment to this important ministry and to deepen their Eucharistic spirituality. The day concluded with fellowship and lunch, leaving the participants enriched and inspired for their service in the Church.
